Who he is: Unassuming but highly talented and just 21 years old, Ben Piggott has took part as the youngest sailor confirmed for the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 edition. After taking an unplanned gap year, he found his way to a boatyard and quickly made the step onboard as a bowman on Scallywag's 100ft super maxi. He's since racked up over 45,000 miles offshore doing delivery trips – but he still jokes that the thought of doing the Volvo Ocean Race is 'insane'.
